Share documents and any other file types togehter with their metadata


There are three methods available to share data with others:

1. Sharing via a common folder (or cloud)

Advantage: Exchange is fully automatic.
share files, metadata and attachments with third parties who
a) must have access to the common location and
b) use digi-libris Reader as well.

2. Sharing via eMail

Andvantage: Multiple recipients without digi-libris.
share files, metadata and attachments with third parties. Files and attachments and metadata (if not already embedded in the files themselves) are bundled in a simple zip package any one can decompress.
The metadata can be attached as plain text or as XMP sidecar file.

3. using the dMeta file format

The dMeta file format is more universal in that it produces bundles of data (of any kind) and corresponding metadata in the widely accepted XMP format into a single compressed file which makes it ideal for scholarly communication where metadata is most important for classification and exchange of knowledge.

dMeta stands for Data plus Metadata Zip-package which is a new file format for the exchange of data. Any file can be coupled and transmitted together with its descriptive and citation-relevant metadata. Research data and support notes that are not normally included in a paper, but required by Open Access can thus be permanently associated.

In addition to documents metadata can be generated for any digital file including spreadsheets, pictures, videos, software and even data generated by an instrument.

Scientists can more easily collaborate and share resources and knowledge. Authors can ensure their metadata survives peer review and paste-up as publishers can import the attached metadata into the final PDF file.
